Winter Garden, FL - Yesterday, Scott Boyd filed his paperwork with the Orange County Supervisor of Elections, officially entering the race for Orange County Commission District 1.

Scott Boyd is a resident of Orange County who works for his family's citrus business.  He has served in a host of volunteer organizations and is currently a member of the Orange County Building Codes Board of Adjustments and Appeals.   This Quasi Judicial Board hears complaints brought by consumers against State and local building contractors.  As a board member, Scott has worked on modifications to better the consumer complaint. thereby showing his process and awareness for the citizens of Orange County.

"As a sixth generation Orange County resident, I have seen what the impact of growth and development have had on our schools, environment and roads."  said Boyd.  "Successfully dealing with future growth and development requires a new way of thinking and a new way of getting things done."

Scott's vision of how future development in Orange County can occur in a sound and responsible manner has been shaped by his understanding of the need to return to a more rational development pattern including strong, healthy neighborhoods that have parks and trails, thereby encouraging a healthier lifestyle.   Limited resources make green, sustainable development a practice that the county should wholeheartedly support.

"District 1 deserves representation that will work hard for West Orange County while at the same time and working to build consensus on Orange County's shared future.  I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that face our county and I am excited at the prospect of working with Mayor Crotty and the other commissioners to protect and enhance our quality of life."
